Smovidya is the annual student government election at Chulalongkorn University. The organization needed a digital platform to replace paper-based voting with a secure, transparent, and easy-to-use online system.
Previous elections used paper ballots or basic Google Forms, which caused logistical problems: low participation, counting errors, and no real-time results visibility. Students and election committees needed a purpose-built tool.
Interviewed election committee members to map the end-to-end process, from candidate registration to ballot counting. Benchmarked against civic tech platforms and university election systems from other institutions.
Defined three user flows: voter authentication → candidate browsing → vote submission. Designed a candidate profile page with standardized info cards. Created an admin dashboard for real-time result tracking and audit logging.
Delivered a clean, mobile-first voting interface with candidate profiles, a one-tap voting mechanism, and a live results dashboard for the election committee. Built to handle thousands of concurrent voters.
Voter participation increased significantly compared to previous years. The election committee reported zero counting errors and praised the real-time result dashboard. The system was recognized as a model for future university elections.
